For this exercise I did three sketches of groups of figures using charcoal on a A3 cartridge paper.
The first was done during the break at the last boot camp (workshop) at my dancing school, with people relaxing - some standing up having a coffee and some of the youngsters sitting on the floor talking and changing their shoes, and I think I captured the atmosphere of the place at that time.

The second was of people walking in different directions in Trafalgar Square just outside National Gallery, on a very cold day. Everyone was walking quickly to get out of the cold and I think I captured the atmosphere of the day.

The third sketch was based on a video I did during a ballroom dancing competition, and I tried to capture the movement of the dancers around the floor, though I couldn’t capture the flamboyant atmosphere of the place.
