I did this exercise in two different sessions -
Firstly in my Life drawing class I did two, a 5-minute drawing in pastel on 40x40 black card, and a 10-minute drawing in 2B pencil on A3 cartridge paper with crosshatching technique. Of the two I like the second because I think the proportions of the dancer are correct and the sense that her body weight is mostly on her right leg.

Secondly I did two 20-minute sessions at the end of a Mall Gallery event sketching ballet dancers, using pen and ink and line technique.
I was very pleased with these drawings – I think the proportion are accurate, I managed to convey the poses, and I think it’s clear that their body weight is on their standing leg.
