For this exercise I decided to use grey pastel paper as my support and Sommelier soft pastel sticks and pastel pencils, and I chose two landscapes as my subjects to give me the opportunity to use as many types of marks as possible.
The first was based on a picture I took at Sheffield Park in autumn a few years ago which I like very much, particularly the trees in the background and the leaves in the foreground. I think I managed to blend the colours, though more work is needed on the water and the sky.

For my second I took more care with the sky and I’m happy with the result, though the path needs more work and I think it needs more dark areas to make it more three-dimensional.
