Overlaying washes

For this exercise I was required to produce a wet on dry wash using some the washes I did at the 2.1 exercise, the result as below:


This technique gave me more control over on the application of the paint compared with the wet on wet technique. The colours appear to be more intense and more vibrant than in the previous exercise - the colours seems to sit on top of each other rather than merging into each other
Without realising it, I had already used this technique on the piece of fruit exercise (1.1.b of my blog) as I used glazes overlaying the colours on the black tonal underpainting, building up the colours after the previous layer was dry.
